So, yesterday was day 1 of my 5:2 Fasting day. Day 1 starts with your first fast day. (For more info on this diet check out these pages, and do some research for yourself as well. The Fast Diet - UK, The Fasting Diet Plan, Huffington Post Review).
Everything I read (and I read a lot, bought the e-book, downloaded apps, read reviews, blogs, etc.) said the first week would be the hardest....well, duh! So I did everything I could to mentally prepare myself for yesterday. Mostly, I prayed. God give me grace, give me strength, give me will power, help me not to bite the head off my family...you know, the basics ;-) And guess what, yesterday really wan't bad at all. I drank LOTS of water (12 8 oz. glasses) and 3 cups of coffee. In fact, I'll give you my "menu" below. Keep in mind there are tons of recipes, but I am SOOO picky, so I'm sure I am really not giving this diet the opportunity to really be good. But I'm going to work on that too.
Tuesday Breakdown - Total Calories: 441 Calories
7:00 a.m. - Water (3 cups)
7:30 a.m. - Coffee (w/Truvia & 1 Coffeemate Creamer) - 10 cal.
10:30 a.m. - Coffee (w/Truvia & 1 Coffeemate Creamer) - 10 cal.
12:00 a.m. - Water (3 cups)
12:30 p.m. - Tuna Salad (2 cups romaine leaves, 1/2 can plain tuna, 1 Tbsp Italian Dressing) - 85 cal., 1/2 C Pineapple - 41 Cal.
2:30 p.m. - Water (3 cups)
3:00 p.m. - Coffee (w/Truvia & 1 Coffeemate Creamer) - 10 cal.
5:00 p.m. - Hunt's Sugar Free Orange Jello - 5 Cal.
6:00 p.m. - Water (3 cups)
6:00 p.m. - 4 oz. Salmon Filet (sauted in lite olive oil cooking spray with salt, pepper & garlic) - 234 Cal., and 10 Asparagus stalks (baked with lemon juice & salt) - 41 cal.
7:30 p.m. - Hunt's Sugar Free Strawberry Jello - 5 Cal.
(I listed the time I refilled my 32 oz. cup with water. I basically sipped on this all day.)
Today is my off day or "feast" day, but I have no intentions to go crazy! Prior to starting the 5:2 diet, I was following the Fitness Pal 1200 calorie plan, so I plan to stick with that (for the most part, maybe allowing 1 day of 1600 spurge). I actually have found it easier not to over eat today, after realizing that I can actually survive on 500 calories.
I will also do Week 1/Day 2 of the 5K Runner program.
Skinny Stephanie, I know you are in there, I've seen you before, and I will find you again.
p.s. maybe I'll get brave & post some of the before pics I took, which are just flat out humiliating. But for now, use your imagination. (Remember, I described myself as jello wrapped in saran wrap the other day.)
